What else can you do to keep your teeth healthy in 2023?
- Brush your teeth twice a day with a soft bristled toothbrush- Every time you eat, you introduce more bacteria into your mouth, and twice-daily brushing ensures you remove as much as possible without hurting your gums or enamel.
- Floss everyday for healthy teeth and gums- Flossing should begin early in life and should be carried out daily. Dental floss when used correctly removes any left over food and plaque from the teeth preventing gum disease.
- Limit sugar intake wherever possible- Sugar has a direct connection to tooth decay. After eating foods that contain sugar, these molecules combine with saliva and bacteria present in the mouth. This combination leads to plaque on teeth. Left on teeth, plaque can dissolve enamel, which leads to cavities.
- Schedule regular Dental cleaning and checkups. A check-up allows your dentist to see if you have any dental problems and helps you keep your mouth healthy. Leaving problems untreated could make them more difficult to treat in the future, so it’s best to deal with problems early, or, if possible, prevent them altogether.
If you are not registered with a Dentist but are unable to pay the cost of private dentistry then do get in touch as we would be more than happy to explain our Patient Plans that allow you to spread the cost of your regular dental visits from as little as 43p a day!
